Except for Lori Foster's story, blechhh. I love Lori Foster and have a lot of her books so I already know Natalie's sister's story. Because of that I had no problem with the first story except to want to know more about them as I do her other couples in the series. Sadly, when I asked her on her Facebook page she said there wouldn't be more about Jett and Natalie. In fact, the story of Natalie's sister is in another book and came out first. I assume they're just offering the other book in case you haven't read it.

The 2nd story included obnoxious teenagers, both the bratty daughter and her slutty friend. Sounded like they were junior bimbos who didn't care about anyone but themselves and liked to talk in a smutty manner. And the heroine just kept smiling about them like they were the sweetest things. I liked the hero but found Gail to be a lackluster dolt. I thought her snotty remark about his books to be stupid and needlessly hostile.

But the worst was the last story. Ugh. The "heroine" was annoying in the extreme. She went back and forth like an idiot, wanting a "preppy" guy, but wanting a cad. Meanwhile, she was so rude to the hero in the bar and a couple other occasions it was almost jolting to me. Everything about her irritated me and, frankly, she didn't deserve him. She thought being a user meant she was sexually emancipated? For this reason I will not buy the author's other books. Why would I want to read more about the brain dead Beth and her hopelessly idiotic actions? Victoria Dahl's writing just left me cold. Since I only liked the first story and hated the other two, I'm giving a 2 rating. Without Lori Foster's story it would be 1.

The Guy Next Door An Anthology Hqn Lori Foster Susan Donovan Victoria Dahl 9780373775569 Books Reviews

I bought this book for Victoria Dahl's story, but enjoyed the other 2 as well.
I purchased the book mainly for the Lori Foster story and was pleasantly surprised by the other two authors whom I had not read. Makes for some interesting reading next year.
Good begining for the When you Dare ,Trace The Fever and Savor the Danger. Love all these stories! Good reading )
As other reviewers have stated, two of the stories here are essentially prequels and the third is a short story. The first story "Ready, Set, Jett" by Lori Foster is sexy, cute and fun, if insubstantial. I liked the characters and I'm looking forward to the novels that will follow.

The third story, "Just One Taste" by Victoria Dahl was even more of a prequel than Foster's, but it was sexy, the characters were well drawn, and it really set the tone for the next book. I enjoyed it a lot and really look forward to the upcoming Donovan Brothers Brewery trilogy. The brothers are already on my fictional boyfriends list.

The second was Susan Donovan's "Gail's Gone Wild". It's kind of awful. The story idea is okay, but the dialogue is occasionally painful (several times I groaned out loud at the clunky, overly emotive style) and to be honest, it's CLEARLY a Mary Sue story that reads like fanfic about thriller writer Barry Eisler (or some other crazy-hot famous author in that genre. Eisler is the only one I'm aware of). Boring, prissy, uptight thirty-something lit professor on vacation in Key West with two teenagers looking for trouble - but oddly not finding any - has super-sexy successful author next door fall madly in love with her in a week for no reason that I could discern. Mmmmkay.

If you are a fan of Foster or Dahl, get this as a preview for future auto-buys. Otherwise, it's really not something I think most first time readers of any of the three would really enjoy.
I agree with all of the other reviews regarding the fact that this is a set of 3 stories that are not complete. I actually purchased this becaue I believed the Ready, Set, Jett story from Lori Foster was the first book in a series. I thought it odd that she would allow the first book of her series to be put with 2 other books, but now I understand. It was just a prologue! I could have saved my $5 and she could have made Ready, Set, Jett a prologue in her first book.
Lori Foster does it again with her amazing heroes.

This book is connected to When You Dare with the leading ladies being sisters. They are both worth reading!!
Natalie and Jett cannot resist one another and this book is so well written everyone who reads is glad they cannot.
(At this point, i am only reviewing the novella "Ready, Set, Jett" by Lori Foster.)

In this story, Jett Sutter and Natalie Alexander are in an sex-only relationship. Jett goes about figuring out a way to change things. He admits that it is usually the man in the relationship that might want to keep things simple and without commitment, but things are reversed. His plan to "capture" Natalie's attention is certain to work, he's sure of it. As this is a novella, my review needs to be short, as i don't want to give any spoilers. Readers have much to look forward to, however, if they are fond of Lori Foster's series'. "Ready, Set, Jett" sets up the first book in her "Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor" series. Enjoy. I certainly did.
