I don't remember purchasing this book, but I am glad I did. This book is fantastic and right up my alley. I love both Mamoru and Misaki, and I loved Misaki all the more because of how human she was and her emotions were. The magic system was also fascinating and the action scenes were remarkably engaging. I have not read any of the other Theonite books, but I will definitely read them now! If I had read the other books, the review would probably be five stars (there's a lot of context I simply didn't get).

This book took me by surprise. It has a level of depth and complexity that I have rarely found in the "indie titles" I have read. The characters are multifaceted and the multiple view points are well executed and fleshed out. I did experience moments of frustration with some of the characters and their plights, however, Wang does an excellent job brining closure to many of these frustrations. This is a great book, I strongly suggest you give it a try.
